The brain does not like G's. Anything over 300 G's will likely cause a severe concussion and/or possible Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or death. We took an S1 Lifer Helmet and a soft foam helmet from every major helmet brand and put them to the test.
Guess what! The soft foam helmets FAILED the test. The S1 Lifer Helmet passed the test.
We dropped the helmets from a 6.5 foot drop height. All the soft foam helmets allowed 800+ G's into the brain. The impact energy goes directly through the soft foam and rattled the brain.
The S1 Lifer Helmet is constructed with EPS Fusion Foam and the foam disperses the energy so only 186 G's hit the brain.
Why are we sharing this information?
Back in 2010 we were getting reports that younger rippers and pros were getting knocked out (and worse) in the soft foam skate helmets. So we set out to make a safer and more protective helmet. We came up with the S1 Lifer Helmet and alot of top Pros have made the switch.
